Ryder's Awake Time

Our little man is 9 weeks old today.  It is so hard for us to believe!  While 9 weeks old by birth, Ryder is only 2.5 weeks old gestationally (and somewhere in the middle developmentally).  Ryder is slowly having more awake time.  Here is a short video of him on his activity mat (video taken last week).
We spent the night at my mom's house on Thursday to visit with her while she recovers from shoulder surgery.  GET WELL SOON, MOM!!  On Sunday we also went to visit Eric's parents.

Ryder goes to Blue Ridge

We decided to head up to the mountains at the last minute for a Presidents Day holiday getaway.  Ashlee, Rebecca, and the Spalla's (Bryan, Katie & Baby Addie) joined us as well!  We relaxed, played games, took a short hike to a suspension bridge on the Appalachian Trail, and of course ate a lot of great food.  It was a lovely weekend!  Here are some pictures...

Granny and Mom surprised us with a visit on Saturday

Check out those cheeks!

Ryder continues to do very well.  His 2 month check up is next Wednesday.  The boy certainly keeps us busy!  Most recently, he developed an umbilical hernia.  Essentially, his belly button is protruding out of his stomach.  Poor fella... It could mean surgery.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Love truly has a new meaning once you have a child.  Eric and I enjoyed our 8th Valentine's Day together at home with our precious little boy.  Tacos and ice cream... it doesn't get more romantic.  A few big milestones have passed since last week's post...
1.  Ryder "officially" arrived!  We all know Ryder was born on Dec 27, but he has now passed his due date of Feb 11!  He would have been a big, healthy boy if he would have waited until now to arrive.
2.  Ryder surpassed the 8 lb mark on Sunday by jumping to 8 lb 4 oz!  He celebrated by "hitting the bottle".

Here are a couple recent pictures...

Those long fingers will be playing the piano soon!

Ryder and His Cousins

Ryder was able to meet his cousins, Charlie (3 yrs) and Cooper (13 mo), this past weekend at Ashlee's birthday party!  Here are some pictures from the gathering.

Also, Uncle Brian came for a visit last night.  Eric's brother and his wife, Liz, now live in Tulsa, OK, but Brian comes back to Atlanta often for work.

Superbowl Sunday

Eric, Ryder and I enjoyed a Superbowl at home this year.  We were cheering for the Packers and were glad to see them win (too bad it was not the Falcons playing... maybe next year)!  Here is a picture of Ryder wearing his Packers tshirt given to him by Eric's cousin, Barbara.

Great news on Ryder... he is growing quickly and hit 7 lb 7 oz today.  We are so proud of him!!  We go to the nephrologist on Wednesday to discuss the fluid on his left kidney.  Please keep him in your prayers!

Our weekend had a bit more excitement than normal... went to Aunt Linda's for Ashlee's birthday on Saturday night and our hot water heater went out Friday night.  The hot water heater is probably the most annoying problem to have in your home, apart from losing power.  We had to go to our neighbors house today to take showers (I took a cold shower yesterday and Eric went to the gym to shower).  We hope to get a new hot water heater by mid-week.  Until then, it is showers at friends/neighbors/the gym!

Ryder's official due date is this Friday (2/11).  It is hard to believe he is 6 weeks old tomorrow, but should/could still be cooking away in my stomach.  I still think about what went wrong every day... to my friends that are pregnant, please LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!  Do not go into labor at 33 weeks and wait for contractions to become regular before going to the hospital... just go straight to the hospital or your doctor!
